Nov 09, · Even though the electric door mirrors automatically tilt when the car is put in to reverse it is odd that they are not heated as well especially considering all of the other safety features that the Ioniq has I would have thought seeing clearly in the door mirrors would have been an important safety feature. Very disappointing. Heated door mirrors Thread starter Nessy Start date Oct 30, Hi, My Sportback has heated , folding and auto-dimming door mirrors but I have a problem in as much as the drivers side mirror is not heating up any more, I bought the car in May and this is the first time I've needed to use them so have no idea how long they haven't worked for!
Thinking that the mirror had gone I've just sourced a cheap heated mirror glass as a stop-gap measure the price of Genuine dimming mirror glass is exorbitant but now that I've got the old mirror off I find that there is no power at either of the 2 wires going to the glass?
I have 2 wires, a black with blue tracer and a black with red tracer, both are dead when tested with a 12v lamp when the HRW switch is on and the mirror control set to heat the passenger side mirror warms up nicely under such conditions.
I've checked where the wires go through the 'A' pillar and there is no sign of chafing or damage to the wires. The next step is to find out whether there is a fuse controlling the offside mirror heating, the handbook gives no info about a mirror fuse? I did have the drivers door panel off in June when I lubricated and cleaned a noisy window regulator , could I have disturbed anything there causing the mirror not to heat up? Everything else on the mirror works fine, it folds perfectly and the motor moves the glass OK, beyond checking for a fuse slim chance of it being that I know I'm stumped as to what to do next?
Well its fixed! I searched the Haynes manual last night for a wiring diagram and it appears there are 3 fuses involved in the heated mirror circuit, these fuses also feed the power windows and the mirror retraction motors. As everything was working OK on both sides of the car except the drivers heated mirror glass I tried scanning it again with the VCDS and this time I took a bit more notice of the fault code!
The code was P which apparently is either the mirror glass itself or the wiring So first thing this morning I turned my attention to both the wires that connect onto the glass. They looked OK, but as they both had a hard plastic sheath on them it was hard to really tell the state of the spade connector inside that goes onto the mirror connection Once removed, it was apparent that there was a bit of powdery verdigris-like stuff that looked like it might prevent a good electrical connection.
On connecting everything up I now have a warm drivers side mirror! I've just cleared the old fault code and re-scanned and now the fault code has gone. Last edited: Oct 31, Taff D Registered User. Last edited: Mar 19, Once the mirror glass is out the spade connectors are easily accessed as they are on the reverse side of the mirror glass. Glass can be removed literally in a few seconds.
